Indonesia is an island nation with over 35,000 islands of which Bali is the most famous. The country boasts an abundance of natural resources including petroleum, natural gas, timber, tin, coal, copper, gold and silver.

Its population of more than 245 million provides for a diverse ethnic landscape and a wealth of customs and traditions. The country is predominantly Muslim and has a labour force of over 94 million and a GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita of USD3,600. Indonesia’s key industries range from petroleum and natural gas to mining, cement, chemical fertilisers, plywood, rubber, food, textiles, apparel, footwear and of course, tourism.
